Ryan Fraser is expecting his future to remain up in the air until the end of the summer transfer window, according to the Daily Mirror.
They report that Arsenal are keen on the Bournemouth winger but that he has prepared himself for the Cherries to dig their heels in.
Fraser’s £27,000-a-week (Spotrac) contract runs out next summer, so it remains to be seen how much Eddie Howe’s men can get for him on the back of the season of his life.
But the fact that Fraser is prepared for a long transfer saga indicates that Arsenal will need to be patient if they want to get their man.
Arsenal aren’t exactly flush with cash after failing to get into next season’s Champions League so getting players like Fraser who are nearing the end of their contracts – and crucially, apparently not looking to renew – is essential.
That’s the best way for them to get value in the market, and Fraser showed in 2018/19 that he is a bullish, quick and capable of making a real impact in the Premier League.
But it’s not helpful to be unable to secure a player until a matter of days before the season starts – Fraser will want to be up to speed and familiar with his new team-mates, ideally.
