Unai Emery says Arsenal are on course to achieve something important this season if they continue to play well.
The Gunners will move back to third in the Premier League if they win at Sheffield United tonight and keep up their solid start to the new campaign.
They are also through to the next round of the Carabao Cup and have made good progress in the Europa League.
With the strength of the other top teams in the Premier League, many thought Emery’s team would struggle to compete this season.
The team narrowly missed out on a top four finish in the Spaniard’s first campaign in charge and also lost in the Europa League final.
But the boss is positive they can achieve even more after recent chats with head of football Raul Sanllehi and technical director Edu.
“I am speaking every day with Raul, Edu and with the players,” Emery said ahead of the trip to Bramall Lane.
“Our work is more important than our words and really now I am very happy at the club. I am really happy with the players. The last two, three, four weeks, every player – and Mesut Ozil – is working very well.
“This is why we can be positive and we can think we are going to do something important this year. I was speaking with Raul and this is the same idea when he is speaking with me.”
One area that has hindered the Gunners in recent times has been their defensive weakness.
And while they have conceded eleven goals in their eight Premier League games so far, thinks look to be on the up in that department.
New signings David Luiz and Kieran Tierney look like solid acquisitions while the return from injury of Rob Holding and Hector Bellerin is another plus.
Emery has also attributed the breakthrough of some of his young stars to the good start made.
The likes of Bukayo Saka, Reiss Nelson, and Joe Willock are all making their mark at the Emirates.
And with Alexandre Lacazette back from injury to help out hitman Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in attack, the future is looking rosy for the team.
