Unai Emery backs ‘amazing’ Arsenal ace to come through current tough run

Arsenal manager Unai Emery has backed his record signing Nicolas Pepe to improve after his tricky start at the Emirates Stadium.

As per Sky Sports, Emery praised the player’s quality and said he will do everything he can to help him settle quicker in north London so the fans see the best of him.

He said: “Pepe is an amazing player. I am sure he is going to have a big career here. He needs time but also a lot of players when they came here, the first month, the first year is not easy for them. But I am going to work with him to make that adaptation easier.

“When they are here working, playing, we don’t want and it is not relevant for us to speak about the money. Not for him, not for another, young player or experienced players. The salaries are not important for me. They are players, they are human and they play not thinking about that.”

TBR’s View – Fans might argue that a more creative midfield trio would have got more from Pepe at Old Trafford

There’s little doubt that Pepe was the least dangerous of Arsenal’s front three at Old Trafford against Manchester United on Monday night.

When you consider that teenager Bukayo Saka was among the ranks, that’s a fairly damning indictment of record signing Pepe’s display and indicative of his performances since the summer.

The supporters may argue that a more creative midfield trio – containing either Dani Ceballos or Mesut Ozil – would get more out of Pepe; getting him more of the ball, in better areas and contributing to a more attacking attitude in the team.

It remains to be seen what Emery’s plan is to help Pepe settle, but he may want to examine his tactics.
