Man Utd to finalise Maguire move?
Manchester United are in advanced talks with Leicester over Harry Maguire’s proposed move to Old Trafford.
While the deal is not completed yet, a new meeting will be held very soon in order to finalise the agreement, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.
The 27-year-old defender is pushing hard for the move and has totally agreed a contract with United.
Maguire missed training yesterday through illness and fully intends to make the switch before next Thursday’s deadline.
A fee remains unclear, though, with United expected to have to break the world-record transfer fee for a defender, in excess of £75m.
Pepe having Arsenal medical today
Nicolas Pepe will undergo his medical at Arsenal this afternoon, according to L’Equipe journalist Domenighetti Joel, as he completes his £72m arrival from Lille.
The 24-year-old forward will fly into London today and carry out the final tests before penning on the dotted line.
Whether Arsenal announce the club-record signing before the end of the night remains to be seen.
If the Gunners hold off, confirmation will come on Wednesday, so long as Pepe passes his medical.
Liverpool to perform Kent U-turn?
Rangers or Leeds would be pulling off a real coup if they could convince Liverpool to loan them Ryan Kent.
Kent spent last season at Ibrox scoring six goals in 27 league appearances but Leeds are also thought to be keen.
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp said at the weekend that Kent would not be going out on the seventh loan of his career and hinted that he would prefer the midfielder to leave permanently.
But ex-Leeds forward and pundit Noel Whelan feels a U-turn is possible ahead of next Thursday’s transfer deadline, as he told Football Insider: “Klopp has said Liverpool will only sell Kent permanently, but what if no-one matches their valuation?
“Things can change late on in a window, especially when deadline day is close.
“Kent would be a brilliant signing for Rangers or Leeds.
“There’s no chance of him playing regularly at Liverpool, there is just too much attacking depth, so he really needs to move on this summer.
“It would be a real coup for whoever signs him. That’s why Rangers are in for him, and don’t forget he has a good relationship with Steven Gerrard. That could still be a key factor in the coming days.”
Villa to dwarf Leeds star’s wages?
Aston Villa will reportedly offer Kalvin Phillips a whopping 600% increase on his wages at Leeds United.
The midfielder is thought to be keen to join the Premier League side with it being claimed that he is preparing to force his way out of Elland Road to join Villa.
Football Insider say that Dean Smith is readying a five year, £60,000-a-week offer, which is six times the £10,000-a-week he is currently earning in Yorkshire.
All of Villa’s previous attempts to secure his signature have been rebuffed and with less than two weeks to go in the window they will be hoping for movement soon and they are said to be adamant that they will not increase their £15m offer.
