– Liverpool are in talks over a move for Augsburg left-back Philipp Max
Two new Newcastle strikers
Newcastle could be set to follow up their purchase of Joelinton with Southampton outcast Charlie Austin.
The Magpies are expected to wrap up a deal for £36m Hoffenheim striker Joelinton in the coming days.
Meanwhile, Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhuttl has decided Austin is no longer needed at St. Mary’s, and Newcastle could be about to bolster their attacking line further with a cut-price deal.
Austin was close to signing for the Toon earlier in his career before he swapped west London for the South Coast.
The Mirror claim a deal could be struck, with Bruce eyeing the experienced forward this summer.
Man Utd target Maguire talks to Leicester team-mates
Harry Maguire has told his Leicester team-mates he wants to leave the club amid interest from Manchester United and Manchester City this summer.
Starsport understand United expect to wrap up a deal before the window closes on August 8.
And ESPN journalist Mark Ogden claims Maguire has told his Leicester team-mates he’s keen on making a switch.
He told the Sky Sports Transfer Talk podcast: “Leicester want at least £80m for him, potentially rising to £90m depending if and when they sell him, and United have initially offered £40m for him, so half of what Leicester value him at.
“I’ve been told United will go higher and believe they’ll get him because Maguire has been telling Leicester and his team-mates he wants to leave.
“But the window shuts on August 8, and I think that is going to run and run.”
Arsenal face Zaha rivalry
Everton have joined Arsenal in the hunt to sign £80m-rated Wilfried Zaha from Crystal Palace, identifying him as a target.
And the Toffees will be ready to negotiate with stubborn Palace once they officially sell young winger Ademola Lookman.
A £22.5m deal has been agreed with RB Leipzig following his successful loan to the Bundesliga club last year.
That sale would raise more money to help fund a deal for Zaha, with Palace sticking to their £80m valuation.
Should Everton leapfrog Arsenal in the race to sign him, Zaha would ultimately face a big decision if he gets the chance to join the Merseysiders.
The London Evening Standard add it remains to be seen whether a switch to European-chasing Everton would appeal to Zaha.
Liverpool identify left-back solution
Liverpool want to sign Augsburg left-back Philipp Max, according to Spanish newspaper Sport.
The Reds see the 25-year-old as ideal competition for Andy Robertson.
Alberto Moreno’s departure following the expiration of his contract means Liverpool need a new left-back.
The Bundesliga talent would apparently cost £17.5m with Liverpool in talks with the player’s representatives.
Barcelona, though, are also keen on the defender.
