£70m Arsenal claim
Arsenal boss Unai Emery needs to spend close to £70m on at least three new defenders this summer, according to Sky Sports pundit Charlie Nicholas.
“They’re talking about a lot of good, young defenders that they’re interested in. Arsenal need to start getting into the market,” he said.
“I’m seeing now about (Aaron) Wan-Bissaka for £50m to Manchester United – Arsenal can’t afford that, we don’t have the finances.
“We need a whole new defence, and I mean the back four. Probably if (Hector) Bellerin’s fit then that’s fine.
“We’ve got a couple of young players to come back, Rob Holding being one of them.
“But that will be squad-orientated, we probably need three main defenders to come in.
“That’s going to cost the best part of £60m or £70m.”
Liverpool make Fernandes decision
Jurgen Klopp is set to allow Rafael Camacho to join Sporting Lisbon – but he won’t be getting Bruno Fernandes in return.
Reports have suggested Liverpool could use Camacho in negotiations for the capture of midfielder Fernandes.
The Portuguese ace has attracted plenty of interest from the likes of Manchester United and Manchester City following a stellar season with Sporting and then his country at the Nations League tournament.
However, the Evening Standard claim Liverpool have not discussed Fernandes in talks with Sporting as the club have no plans to sign the 24-year-old.
£80m Man Utd worry
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has reservations over signing Inter Milan’s Mauro Icardi amid speculation the Italian club want to sign Romelu Lukaku.
Newly appointed manager Antonio Conte is a long term admirer of Lukaku and wants him to spearhead his attack next season.
However, according to The Telegraph, the Serie A giants can’t afford to pay United’s £80m valuation of the 26-year-old.
In a bid to lower the costs, Inter are prepared to offer Argentine striker Icardi, plus cash, in a bid to convince the Red Devils to part with their striker.
But Solskjaer may have reservations over signing Icardi given the fractious relationship between Inter and the player, the report says.
