Lucas Moura has insisted that he was delighted to see David Luiz sign for Arsenal because it means they’ll be able to hang out more.
The Brazilian defender has been settling into life at The Emirates after having signed for the Gunners from Chelsea FC on deadline day earlier this month.
David Luiz has gone straight into the Arsenal team and he started the Gunners’ 3-1 loss to Liverpool FC at the weekend, although he was at fault for two of the goals.
The former Chelsea FC defender will now turn his attentions towards preparing for Arsenal’s crunch clash against Tottenham Hotspur in Sunday’s north London derby clash at The Emirates.
And the Tottenham Hotspur midfielder says he is looking forward to being able to spend more time with his former Paris Saint-Germain team-mates following his move to Arsenal.
Speaking in an interview quoted by Metro, Moura said: “David is a very experienced player and knows how to go through this situation. He will be stronger very soon.
“I am happy for him because it was a good transfer for him to make. I am also happy because he is closer to me now. He can come visit me at my home easier because when he was at Chelsea, he was so far away!”
He added: “On Sunday he will be my opponent, I will work and do the best for my team to get three points.
“On the pitch (out relationship) is different. It doesn’t matter who the opponent is, I need to do my best and try to win.”
Arsenal head into the game in third place in the Premier League table after their 3-1 loss to Liverpool FC last weekend.
Spurs, meanwhile, are also aiming to bounce back to winning ways after they were beaten 1-0 by Newcastle United in front of their home fans on Sunday.
