‘Still proper Spurs’: Many Tottenham fans react as £54m scores against bitter rivals Arsenal

Gareth Bale found the back of the net as Real Madrid came from 2-0 down to beat Arsenal on penalties after a 2-2 draw – and Tottenham Hotspur fans reacted on Twitter to their former star’s strike.

Real Madrid defender Nacho was sent off after just nine minutes and Arsenal scored goals through Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette. Gunners defender Sokratis was then sent off before half-time.

Bale came on at half-time and scored, before Marco Asensio made it 2-2. Real then won 3-2 on penalties, but Zinedine Zidane said after the match that the situation surrounding former Spurs man Bale remains the same.

Prior to the match, Zidane has said that he hopes Bale leaves Madrid this summer and the Frenchman’s comments have led to huge criticism from Bale’s agent Jonathan Barnett – who labelled the Real gaffer as a “disgrace”.

Bale is expected to leave Real Madrid this summer with Spanish newspaper Marca valuing Bale at around £54million. The only stumbling block is whether Spurs or any interested parties can afford his £600k-a-week wages.

Tottenham fans reacted on Twitter after seeing Bale score against bitter north London rivals Arsenal, though it was a very scrappy goal as he toe-poked a loose ball into the back of the net from six yards out.
