According to a report from Football London, Reiss Nelson is expected to be in contention for Arsenal’s clash with Sheffield United despite withdrawing from England’s under-21 squad.
Nelson was called up alongside Gunners teammates Joe Willock and Eddie Nketiah for the games against Slovenia and Austria. However, the 19-year-old is set to miss out on those fixtures.
Football London reports that he has withdrawn from Aidy Boothroyd’s squad due to a knee injury. The teenager was missing from Arsenal’s match day squad for their 1-0 weekend win over Bournemouth.
But the good news for Gunners fans is that it does not appear to be a serious problem that has ruled Nelson out.
Football London reports that the withdrawal is a precautionary measure, and he is expected to be available for the trip to Sheffield United immediately after the international break.
It looks to be a big boost for Unai Emery that Nelson’s knee injury is not too serious. He has already made six appearances in all competitions, including four in the Premier League.
Nelson is becoming an important part of Emery’s plans. And that importance is only likely to increase as Arsenal go further in various competitions.
He may not be needed at Bramall Lane. But it is good news that he is looking set to be available for what could be a tricky trip for the Gunners.
