Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira is a wanted man in January, with as many as four clubs now wanting to sign the Uruguayan.
That is according to AS, who claim that Lazio have now joined the likes of Fiorentina, Torino, and Valencia in wanting to sign the out of favour Gunners midfielder.
Torreira is contracted with Arsenal until 2023 on a contract worth £75k-a-week, per Spotrac, but has spent this season out on loan in La Liga with Atletico Madrid. However, he has been struggling for minutes, sparking talk of a move elsewhere.
Arsenal are thought to be open to selling Torreira but want some of their money back for a player they spent £26m on (BBC).
There has been concerns from a Gunners perspective that Atletico are purposely not playing Torreira to drive the price down for themselves, although no permanent bid has been forthcoming as yet from the Spanish giants.
TBR View: Arsenal can make money here, a recall and sell would work
Arsenal are correct in wanting to get their money back or at least some of it for Torreira, so it’s no surprise they are digging their heels a little bit.
The interest from other teams is a good thing for the Gunners. It gives them a good option in terms of selling and getting the best amount of money for their man from the highest bidder.
Mikel Arteta will be keen to see this resolved quickly. A fee, plus the wages off the books, will help him in the market going forward.
