Arsenal will have to pay £100 million if they want to sign Wilfried Zaha this summer.
According to The Daily Mail, Crystal Palace are desperate not to lose their star man and are hoping the nine-figure valuation will deter the Gunners, who don’t have much money to spend this summer.
The Eagles have just sanctioned the sale of Aaron Wan-Bissaka to Manchester United for £50 million (BBC Sport), so don’t want another key man departing.
It was recently reported that Zaha would cost in the region of £80 million, and that Arsenal were considering selling Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to fund the move (The Sun).
The new valuation from Palace though might just put Arsenal off since they need to be conservative with their spending.
It is little surprise to see Palace up their asking price for Zaha in the wake of the Wan-Bissaka sale.
The club are trying to show some ambition and losing Zaha would be a big blow for them.
Arsenal should surely be walking away from such a deal.
It would seem that the only way for the Gunners to prise Zaha would be for them to cash in on Aubameyang, which would be very controversial given his status as a top goalscorer.
Unai Emery needs to be shrewd – sanctioning a big-money move for the Ivorian could be somewhat reckless considering the squad needs various improvements.
