Spanish outlet El Desmarque have claimed that Arsenal have an offer on the table for Real Madrid attacker Lucas Vazquez, but they are not the only club interested in landing the attacker.
Vazquez, 28, has fallen down the pecking order at Real Madrid this season after Zinedine Zidane brought in the likes of Luka Jovic and Eden Hazard in the summer window. It has seen Vazquez manage just four starts this season.
Real have made Vazquez available for the January transfer window, and it has seen Arsenal, AS Roma and Bayer Leverkusen already table offers for the Spain international. However, Arsenal are not in pole position for the attacker.
Leverkusen are winning the race to sign the winger, who can also play up front, because they are willing to meet Real’s asking price of Vazquez which is £17million. He has a contract until the summer of 2021.
TBR’s view – Vazquez would see Arsenal correct Pepe mistake
Splashing £72million on Pepe was an enormous risk, Yes, Pepe shone in Ligue 1 last season, but the standard of the French league is far lower than the Premier League. He has struggled in England so far.
Signing Vazquez, a much more proven performer in the Champions League and at the top end of European football. Bringing in Vazquez, for less than £20million, would solve the potential mistake of splashing out on Pepe.
