The 21-year-old hasn’t been able to earn a regular run of games under Mikel Arteta and is craving first-team football.
Nelson spent time on loan with Hoffenheim during the 2018/19 campaign, scoring seven goals in 23 league appearances.
Although the Gunners boss has shown a willingness to utilise youth, Nelson has gound it tricky to hold down a place.
A move to the second tier could bolster his confidence and see him return ready to fight for a more prominent place.
The report doesn’t suggest at this stage which teams are in the running to land Nelson before the transfer deadline.
It has to be said though that it’s likely to be teams chasing promotion to the Premier League who will queue for his services.
Signing a player with Nelson’s pedigree and potential would be deemed a coup for any Championship club to consider.
After rising through the Hale End ranks, the winger has played 47 times for the Gunners.
