Borussia Dortmund are reportedly ready to cash in on Julian Weigl – which could be good news for Arsenal.
The Gunners were linked (Sport Bild) with a move for the holding midfielder in late 2018.
Back then it was claimed the player could have commanded a fee in the region of £68 million.
But The Mirror are now reporting that Weigl is now valued at just £27 million by the German side.
Apparently the arrival of Mats Hummels means the club are now happy to let Weigl depart the club.
Having made just 17 appearances last term, Weigl has become dispensable and could well leave Signal Iduna Park with Paris Saint-Germain also interested.
Even at a reported £27 million, Weigl is still quite pricey for a player who is not guaranteed to improve Arsenal defensively.
Weigl is a tidy holding midfielder by trade who can also fill in at centre-back which would be handy.
If Arsenal want to do a deal for Weigl they will surely have to sell a player or two to increase their transfer kitty so that they aren’t spending over half of it on one player – unless Dortmund were up for negotiating further of course.
