Report: Arsenal consider signing of £22.5m-rated goal machine

According to a report by Dutch outlet Soccer News, Arsenal would consider the re-signing of striker Donyell Malen in the future.

The 21-year-old departed the Gunners in 2017 to sign for Eredivisie outfit PSV where he has made quite an impact.

During 2020/21 he has found the net on five occasions and registered two assists with PSV unbeaten so far.

His form has alerted some clubs to his availability with Juventus and the Gunners cited in the report as potentially interested parties.

Malen was also in blistering form during last season, firing 17 goals and registering nine assists for the Dutch giants.

The talented youngster left Arsenal after feeling the pathway to first-team football was blocked.

He was clearly itching to taste first-team football and felt those opportunities wouldn’t be forthcoming at the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal have Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah fighting it out for a place in attack.

The Gunners might feel as though Malen has something different to add though and are perhaps regretting letting him leave.

Mikel Arteta has ensured the pathway is far clearer for younger players these days and that might tempt Malen into a move back to North London.

TBR View – PSV youngster might be a shrewd signing by Arsenal

Arsenal offloaded Malen for just £540,000 and they’d have to fork out far more than that to re-sign him.

The pathway is clearer for younger players at the Emirates these days and that will surely take his fancy.

Malen is playing out of his skin at PSV and he looks destined to play for a bigger club.

The youngster looks set for a really big future and if Arsenal can make a play to get him back his lethal instinct could make him a shrewd addition.
