Newcastle United goalkeeper Freddie Woodman is attracting solid interest from Celtic and Arsenal, according to Chronicle Live.
The youngster is out of contract next summer and with his path to the first-team restricted he may consider his options.
Neither Arsenal or Celtic are likely to make a move until the 22-year-old’s contract expires in 12 months time.
In the meantime, the custodian could head out on loan with two Championship clubs keen to sign him before next weekend’s big kick-off.
Woodman has made two Newcastle appearances during the club’s pre-season campaign; although he is eager to play regular first-team football during 2019/20.
Scott Bain is the current first-choice goalkeeper at Parkhead, although doubts remain over his longevity as the club’s number one.
At Arsenal, Bernd Leno is in possession of the gloves and a switch there in 12 months time would make first-team football slightly more challenging.
Woodman has a bright future ahead of him. He has played for England at a number of different youth levels, more recently collecting six Under-21 caps.
Woodman looks set for a bright future in football and Steve Bruce would be wise to get him tied down to a new deal.
A loan move for the 2019/20 campaign looks like a good option for all parties.
When it comes to choosing his next move next summer, it could be a whole lot worse than having two massive clubs like Arsenal and Celtic competing for your signature.
Celtic will probably hand him the chance to play more football, but Arsenal’s presence at the top end of the Premier League could make that an attractive proposition too.
At St James’ Park, he only earns £3,000-a-week and he could probably earn considerably more elsewhere.
Whoever lands Woodman would get themselves a promising young custodian and Newcastle could rue allowing him to leave if that does become the case.
