Arsenal are one of the Premier League sides who are monitoring Nathan Collins, with The Sun on Sunday (24/1; page 59) reporting that bidding could start for the centre-back this week.
The 19-year-old has made 19 Championship appearances for Stoke City this term. Along the way, he has scored twice and contributed one assist.
He looks to be developing into a fantastic prospect. He is strong aerially, and seems to read the game extremely well. Meanwhile, he is also more than capable of unleashing a delicious cross field pass.
And his form is not going unnoticed. According to The Sun on Sunday (24/1; page 59), Arsenal, Burnley and Crystal Palace all want the teenager. Manchester United are also said to be admirers.
The report notes that the Clarets are currently in the driving seat. It is claimed that the Gunners would need to raise the funds to make a move with the Potters wanting at least £10 million.
Interestingly, the report adds that bidding for the youngster could start imminently.
TBR View: Arsenal interest surprising and may alarm some already in North London
It is interesting to see Arsenal target another centre-back. Mikel Arteta left Sokratis out of his plans before his departure this month. Meanwhile, Calum Chambers looks to be facing a fight to get into the team anytime soon.
The Gunners boast a number of centre-back options. The likes of Konstantinos Mavropanos and William Saliba are out on loan and will return to the fold in the summer.
Convincing Collins to move to the Emirates therefore, could be difficult for Arsenal – particularly if some of their Premier League rivals also put offers on the table.
