Aubameyang responded by saying that Watzke, who he referred to as ‘a clown’, pledged not to sell Ousmane Dembele only to do so when he was offered a significant sum.
Aubameyang’s tweet read: ‘Better for you I never talk about why I really left Dortmund Mr Watzke you such a clown.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has hit back at Borussia Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke
‘I remember that time you said we never gonna sell Ousmane then you saw more than 100M you were the first to take that money.
‘Don’t talk about money please!!! Leave me alone pls.’
Watzke claimed that Aubameyang only joined Arsenal in January 2018 for monetary reasons
Watzke sold Dembele to Barcelona in 2017 for a fee that could rise to £135.5million, despite previously saying that the winger wouldn’t leave.
Earlier this week Watzke suggested that Aubameyang, who signed for Arsenal from Dortmund for £56million in January 2018, made the switch to the Gunners for monetary reasons.
The 60-year-old also made a thinly-veiled jibe about Aubameyang playing in the Europa League as opposed to the Champions League.

Aubameyang scored 141 goals in 213 games for Dortmund between 2013 and 2018
Watzke told Suddeutsche Zeitung: ‘Of course it is hard to keep a player in the face of such sums.
‘Some go to clubs because of this money, where they have not played Champions League for years.
‘[Pierre-Emerick] Aubameyang, who plays great at Arsenal, will probably be warm-hearted when he looks at his bank account, but on Wednesdays will be saddened when he has to watch the Champions League on television.’
Aubameyang joined Dortmund in 2013 and went on to score 141 goals in 213 appearances for the club.
Since signing for Arsenal he has hit 49 goals in 73 games.
