Mesut Ozil is tipping Emile Smith Rowe to develop into a top player at Arsenal in the coming years.
The Gunners are currently preparing for their new Premier League campaign as they gear up for their second season under Unai Emery.
The 18-year-old impressed during last year’s pre-season tour and he ended up being sent to RB Leipzig on loan for the second half of last term – however, he was limited to just three appearances in the German league due to injury.
Smith Rowe is now trying to impress Emery as he bids to try and hold down a regular spot in the first team at Arsenal in the coming seasons.
And Ozil feels that Smith Rowe, along with a handful of Arsenal’s other emerging talents, can play more of a role for the Gunners in the years to come.
Speaking in an interview quoted by Metro, Ozil said: “Right now, we have a lot of young players.
“Yesterday, Joe Willock played with us, he really showed his quality. Eddie [Nketiah], everyone knows Eddie in the team, he is fighting hard and wants to help us.
“Reiss [Nelson], he had a lot of experience in Germany. He played very well during the season over there.
“Don’t forget Emile [Smith Rowe]. He is injured so he is coming back, we know his quality as well.
“At Arsenal, I think we are lucky to have those young players.”
Arsenal finished in fifth place in the Premier League table last season and without a trophy in what was Unai Emery’s first campaign in charge.
The north London side missed out on a spot in next season’s Champions League after they lost 4-1 to Chelsea FC in the Europa League final.
