Mesut Ozil sends Arsenal message after FA Cup triumph amid star’s Turkey trip

Mesut Ozil has sent Arsenal a message after watching his team-mates win the FA Cup from Turkey.

Mikel Arteta may have only been given his first managerial job earlier this season but he already has claimed a trophy.

The Gunners faced Chelsea in the FA Cup final on Saturday, with Frank Lampard also looking to land silverware in his debut campaign.

Arsenal overcame their London rivals in a 2-1 result, thanks to goals from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

But Ozil was not in attendance after being given permission to leave the country for Turkey.

The reason for the trip is still a mystery but the former Germany international was still on hand on to send his team-mates a congratulatory message.

Ozil has been in Turkey

After the win, Ozil wrote on Twitter: “Great job my boys! #YaGunnersYa #FACupWinners”.

The ex-Real Madrid star is entering the final year of his contract, which is worth an extravagant £350,000-a-week.

There has been interest from clubs in Turkey, namely Fenerbahce.

But Ozil’s agent Erkut Sogut has insisted his client will not be leaving the Emirates this summer, meaning he intends to see out his contract.

“I do not think there will be a change in the case of Mesut Ozil until the summer of 2021,” he said.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was in fine form against Chelsea

“He has a contract. There is no change. He will remain in Arsenal.”

As for Arteta, the Spaniard will be over the moon to end his first campaign in management with a trophy.

After a largely derisory season from the Gunners, Arsenal find themselves still in Europe next term despite finishing eighth.

And Arsenal fans can thank Aubameyang for his finishing skills against Chelsea, ending his season with a whopping 29 goals.

His first came from the penalty spot but his second was a piece of sublime skill.

The Gabon international rounded Kurt Zouma with ease before lofting the ball over Willy Caballero.
