Mesut Ozil fears that he may have played his last game for Arsenal, according to reports in the British media.
The Daily Mirror is reporting that the 30-year-old playmaker is concerned that he may not be able to force his way back into the first team at The Emirates after having fallen out of favour under Unai Emery.
The same story says that Arsenal are “plotting ways” to offload Ozil in the January transfer window and they are prepared to subsidise his wages after he fell out of favour with Emery.
According to the same article, Ozil does not think that there is a way back for him and the club are now ready to draw a line and offload the midfielder.
The midfielder has only made one single appearance for Arsenal so far this season in the Premier League, playing 71 minutes in the 2-2 draw with Watford last month.
He also featured for 71 minutes in the 5-0 win over Nottingham Forest in the League Cup third round in September.
The same article says that Emery has not been impressed by Ozil’s attitude in training, and that the Gunners are now looking to offload the former Real Madrid star in the new year.
Arsenal will return to Premier League action after the international break with a trip to Sheffield United.
