Gary Lineker has taken to social media to pay tribute to Sheffield United for producing a “marvellous” performance in their 1-0 win over Arsenal on Monday night.
The Gunners suffered their second Premier League defeat of the season at Bramall Lane as they struggled to deal with the home side’s impressive display.
Lys Mousset scored the only goal of the game for the hosts in the 30th minute when he turned home Jack O’Connell’s knockdown from close range.
The result left Arsenal outside the top four and in fifth place in the Premier League table, two points behind fourth-placed Chelsea FC in the top flight.
England legend Lineker was clearly impressed by what he saw from the Blades on Monday night as he took to social media to congratulate the home side for their display against the Gunners.
Lineker tweeted: “Well played @SheffieldUnited. Marvellous performance. 👏🏻👏🏻.”
Arsenal will now have to dust themselves down as they prepare for their home clash against Vitoria in the Europa League on Thursday night.
The north London side will then switch their attentions back to Premier League affairs and their home clash against Crystal Palace on Sunday afternoon.
Arsenal are aiming to try and break back into the top four this season after they finished fifth and without a trophy last term.
