Marco Asensio appears to suffer serious knee injury in Real Madrid’s clash with Arsenal
Marco Asensio left the field in tears after suffering a serious-looking knee injury during Real Madrid‘s friendly clash with Arsenal.
The Spanish winger had just fired Real level with a well-taken goal before injuring himself tracking back to challenge Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang – his foot catching in the turf as he attempted to make a sharp turn.
Asensio could be seen banging the turf in frustration before covering his face as he was taken off on a stretcher.

Marco Asensio – here taking on Bayern Munich – looks to have suffered a serious knee injury
How the injury affects Gareth Bale’s proposed move to China remains to be seen. The two are similar players – both left-footed wingers – and Real manager Zinedine Zidane is known to prefer Asensio.
But if Asensio is ruled out for the majority of the season then Zidane will be light in the forward department which Bale has been a part of for six years.
The injury could also bring James Rodriguez back into Zidane’s thinking.
