‘I’ll drive him there myself’: Loads of Arsenal fans thrilled by exit reports about 26-year-old ‘binman footballer’

Arsenal midfielder Mohamed Elneny is attracting summer interest from Fenerbahce, according to a report by Turkish outlet Fotomac.

They report that the Turkish club’s director Damien Comolli was at the Europa League final in Baku and held talks with Gunners chiefs about taking the 26-year-old this summer.

Elneny was brought to the Emirates Stadium in 2016 under Arsene Wenger but has failed to establish himself in the first team despite the Gunners’ need for a holding midfielder.

The Egypt international is combative enough but lacks quality on the ball and has not progressed significantly enough since his arrival to be considered a serious contender for a place in Unai Emery’s first-choice team.

Elneny did actually get an appearance in the Gunners’ final match of the 2018/19 Premier League season, against Burnley, but based on the reaction on Twitter, many fans hope that was a farewell game.

Arsenal need a serious summer of investment and clearing out the deadwood such as Elneny is seen as crucial to raising the funds to do that in the eyes of the fanbase.

The Gunners fans cannot wait for Elneny to leave and are desperate for the rumours to be true…
