Arsenal legend Ian Wright lavished praise on Matteo Guendouzi after an impressive performance in the 2-2 North London Derby against Tottenham Hotspur.
The Frenchman was excellent in central midfield for the Gunners alongside Granit Xhaka and Lucas Torreira, showing great character in the second half to inspire a comeback for the hosts.
Guendouzi laid on a superb lofted through ball for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to poke home, to cap off his mature display.
Wright was thrilled with the 20-year-old after the game, writing on Twitter: “That performance at 20 in the North London Derby. Magnificent @MatteoGuendouzi. Arsenal fans protect him at all costs.”

Arguably it was the former Lorient star’s best performance to date in Arsenal colours, and he will surely have a strong case to start Arsenal’s first game back against Watford after the international break.
It was a brilliant performance from Guendouzi in an extremely frantic game.
The midfielder was solid in possession and combative against the likes of Harry Winks and Moussa Sissoko.
His assist was sublime, suggesting that he can perhaps be a real creative asset for Arsenal going forwards as well as being a dictator of play from deep.
In past matches, Guendouzi has often appeared overawed but against Spurs he played like a man with years of Premier League experience as his team chased the game, rather than the 20-year-old rookie he supposedly still is.
It was a highly encouraging showing and Arsenal fans will hope to see him really kick on from here.
