‘Hope Bielsa took notice’: Some Leeds fans want underused starlet to start

Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah, on loan at Leeds United, proved a point to Marcelo Bielsa during the international break.

Nketiah scored a hat-trick to show he is knocking on the door for his first league start at Leeds. Patrick Bamford has been preferred to Nketiah so far but the loanee is piling pressure on his manager.

The 20-year-old has been impressive when called upon for Leeds. He has started two EFL Cup games and scored in both. And he has two goals and an assist in seven league outings – taking his overall tally to five direct goal contributions in nine matches.

Nketiah has not yet started a game in the Championship after his late summer loan switch from Arsenal. Leeds beat other teams to his signature but have underused him up until this point.

This has riled Arsenal fans and frustrated Nketiah. But his latest performance for England U21s could help his case. The youngster showed his striker’s instinct with two close-range finishes and a well-placed header. He also missed a penalty.

Here are some tweets from Leeds fans calling for Nketiah to start after his midweek hat-trick.
