William Saliba is officially an Arsenal player after weeks of speculation.
The club confirmed his move to the Emirates Stadium just hours after announcing Dani Ceballos on loan.
The French youngster will now spend the 2019/20 season back on loan at Saint-Etienne, and will join up with his new teammates next summer.
The deal is reported to be worth £27 million (The Sun), and it is though Arsenal staved off competition from Tottenham Hotspur to land the teenager.
Speaking about his move, Saliba revealed one Arsenal player subtly helped him make the move to north London.
He said (Mirror): “I spoke to Matteo. I even bumped into him at a funfair in Paris, and that’s where I told him that Arsenal wanted to sign me! He gently advised me to come here and explained what it was like.”
Arsenal fans owe Guendouzi a huge thank you if he really did help push Saliba towards the Emirates and away from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
The colossal central defender is a huge prospect and he could be the man to ease the club’s defensive woes in the future.
Arsenal would have liked him in without the loan aspect, but the starlet was hugely coveted and all that matters is that he is their player.
