Guendouzi names the two Arsenal players he got on especially well with, including £19m man

Matteo Guendouzi has been speaking about his time at Arsenal, as he seeks to get back on track with German outfit Hertha Berlin.

The French maestro sealed a deadline day loan away from the Emirates earlier this month, after not featuring for the Gunners since the Premier League game against Brighton back in June.

At the end of that game, Guendouzi had an altercation with Neal Maupay which Mikel Arteta reportedly took a dim view of.

There were also claims after that about the player’s attitude.

Despite all that was written, Guendouzi doesn’t appear to hold any grudges or ill-feeling.

In an interview with Kicker, he said: “I played over 80 games there and had a good, intense time there.

“I learned a lot there in terms of sport and grew up there. It was two good years for me.”

Guendouzi also stated the names of two players he got on with particularly well with.

“I also had a very good relationship with Mesut Özil, and Bernd Leno (£19 million, BBC Sport),” he added. “Both of them told me a lot of good things about the Bundesliga.”

TBR’s View – Guendouzi tone is very interesting

Guendouzi’s comments seem to read as though he doesn’t intend on fighting for his place back in north London.

He speaks as though his move away from the club is permanent

Whatever is in his head right now, it is still very early in the season and there’s a lot of football to be played and, ultimately, decisions to be made.
