Arsenal sporting director Edu has reportedly initiated talks over a move to bring Real Madrid playmaker Martin Odegaard to The Emirates this month on loan – and Madrid supporters have reacted on Twitter.
Odegaard, 22, is out of favour at Real Madrid. This season under Zinedine Zidane, he has managed just nine appearances in all competitions – four of which have been from the substitutes bench. A loan move is on the agenda.
Last season, the 25-time Norway international clocked up 36 appearances for Real Sociedad while on loan – having a hand in 16 goals for the La Liga side. The Athletic claim Sociedad are keen to take him on loan again.
However, they will have to face competition from Arsenal. The Gunners are keen to do a deal for Odegaard, with the relationship between the clubs strong after Dani Ceballos rejoined Arsenal in the summer, also on loan.
The report claims Edu opened talks for Odegaard last week and Arsenal are keen to do a deal in order to relieve some of the number 10 burden on the emerging Emile Smith-Rowe – who has three assists in his last five league games.
Real Madrid supporters have responded on Twitter to the news that Arsenal are reportedly in talks to sign Odegaard – and while some think he would benefit from an Arsenal loan, others think he would be better served at Sociedad.
Good for him as Arsenal don’t have a CAM he will be the undisputed starter and Prem will improve him a lot even in just 6 months
