Arsenal star Matteo Guendouzi has received his first call-up to the France national side. Guendouzi will be hoping to win his first cap for France as Didier Deschamps’ side take on Albania and Andorra next weekend.
Guendouzi has been drafted in by Deschamps to replace Paul Pogba. The Manchester United midfielder has withdrawn with an injury and Guendouzi was next in the pecking order.
The 20-year-old is fresh off the back of a star-studded North London derby performance. He provided the perfect assist for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s equaliser and dictated play in midfield.
Now, the ex-Lorient midfielder will be eager to show Deschamps what he can do. Guendouzi has been a regular for France’s U21 squad but this is his chance to break into the senior side.
His form for Arsenal has been rewarded with a call-up for Les Bleus and Guendouzi will want to hit the ground running. Arsenal fans believe he has all the ingredients to become a hit on the world stage.
Here are some tweets reacting as Guendouzi received a call-up to represent the world champions.
The manager would have been mad not to give a call
