Arsenal will be looking for a big response against Vitoria Guimaraes on Thursday night in the Europa League.
The Gunners suffered a disappointing 1-0 defeat at Sheffield United on Monday, missing the chance to move up to third in the Premier League table.
Unai Emery’s men have made a solid start to the new season but defeat at Bramall Lane highlighted the same old issues that the team have become accustomed with in recent years.
A home Europa League clash should though provide the perfect opportunity to bring the winning feeling back to the Emirates.
So far Arsenal have been perfect in the competition, winning both games so far 3-0 and 4-0.
Key to that early success has been the creativity and youthful exuberance of Joe Willock, Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli, all of whom have starred against Standard Liege and Eintracht Frankfurt.
The Brazilian striker Martinelli has scored four goals in his first two starts for Arsenal and his prowess in the air will likely be demonstrated again on Thursday against a Vitoria side that have struggled to defend crosses and set-pieces this season.
Emery will likely also use the game to give Kieran Tierney and Hector Bellerin the chance to build up their fitness with both having returned from long-term injuries.
Emiliano Martinez should come in again between the sticks with Rob Holding and Shkodran Mustafi at centre-back.
Dani Ceballos and Lucas Torreira could both start the game in midfield with Maitland-Niles, Willock, and Saka further forward.
Alexandre Lacazette has just returned form injury and could lead the line for the Gunners to help get his sharpness back.
If not, Martinelli will likely play the striker role once more.
Reiss Nelson is the only injury absentee for Emery, who is finally getting his his squad up to full fitness.
Arsenal have won their last six at home in the Europa League, their longest winning streak in European competition since they won seven in a row between March 2001 and February 2002.
Arsenal predicted lineup vs Vitoria Guimaraes: Martinez; Bellerin, Mustafi, Holding, Tierney; Ceballos, Torreira; Maitland-Niles, Willock, Saka; Lacazette
