Arsenal are desperate to bolster their ranks after a dismal year that saw them finish fifth in the Premier League.
It means another year out of the Champions League which has had a serious impact on transfer funds.
It has been reported that Unai Emery has as little as £45m to play with this summer but that has not stopped the club from pursuing targets.
William Saliba and Dani Ceballos are on the way while Gabriel Martinelli has already been signed, though he will join up with the reserves.
But one man that has Arsenal fans’ hearts racing is Everton of Gremio, who had a tremendous campaign in the Copa America.
The winger, known as ‘Cebolinha’ – or ‘Little Onion’, was the star for Brazil after stepping in for the injured Neymar – finishing the tournament as top scorer with three.
Arsenal are desperate to sign a wide forward and have ran into problems with Wilfried Zaha.
And the chase for Everton has since stepped up as a result and Brazilian publication Globo Esporte are reporting that is largely down to the influence of Edu.

The 41-year-old joined as the club’s first ever technical director this summer after fulfilling a similar role for the Brazil national team.
He has struck up a good relationship with many of the Brazilian squad members, Everton being one of them.
And the former Invincible has made it a personal mission of his to sign the 23-year-old to the Gunners.
Everton also missed training on Monday to settle ‘private matters’.
The Gremio attacker has already confirmed that his time in the Campeonato Brasileiro Serie A could be up soon.
“I do not know. It is an unknown,” he said after the club’s 2-1 win over Vasco da Gama last Saturday.
“Really. I do not know what can happen. As time goes by, things are tapering.
“I have a proposal. I cannot talk about the club.”
