It’s a rather ambitious move from the North London side but one well worth the effort. Part of the 2018 World Cup squad, the 23-year-old has enjoyed a phenomenal campaign with PSG.
He won his fourth Ligue 1 title with the Parisian giants but it’s only his second season where Kimpembe has played a big role. He finished the season with 36 appearances to his name and new manager Thomas Tuchel found the right formation and partnership for him which played a big part.
It effectively changed the course of the young centre-back’s season but it’s still a rather ambitious move from Arsenal. Sure, Presnel Kimpembe has a good relationship with former PSG and current Arsenal boss Unai Emery, which does give Arsenal an advantage.
But PSG offers the 23-year-old a genuine chance to win the Champions League or at least be amongst the top contenders. Arsenal, on the other hand, can’t offer that at the moment. That moment will come in a year, maybe two but it is not their time now.
Yet, if there is even a tiny chance to sign Presnel Kimpembe, it’s one that Arsenal have to take. The heir to Laurent Koscielny, Kimpembe is a younger and lankier version of the Arsenal legend but their defensive style is more or less the same.
The young 23-year-old can add the aggression that Koscielny has lacked with age but yet it seems to work quite well for Kimpembe. He’s a versatile and modern defender and could make a lasting impact at Arsenal.
Not to mention, the 23-year-old did have his best season at PSG under the Arsenal boss. It’s why Emery and Presnel Kimpembe have a great relationship. And if Arsenal can take advantage of that, it will pay dividends.
They need defensive reinforcements after the club conceded a record 51 goals last season. That makes it the second most amongst the top-nine sides in the Premier League.

Arsenal needs a reliable centre-back and it has to be someone young, exciting and with a lot to prove, which describes Presnel Kimpembe perfectly.
The 23-year-old has a bright future ahead of him and if the North London side can take full advantage of that, then it will help take them that much closer to the top-four.
