Daniel Farke claims Emi Buendia will NOT leave the Canaries in the January transfer window

Daniel Farke insists Arsenal target Emi Buendia will not be leaving the club during the current transfer window.

The Argentinian midfielder has been in fine form this season as the Canaries bid to bounce straight back to the Premier League.

As a result, Buendia has been heavily linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium this season.

However, Farke has dismissed claims that the 24-year-old may join the Gunners in the January transfer window.

‘Nothing will happen with Emi Buendia this month,’ Farke told a press conference before Wednesday’s home Sky Bet Championship game against Bristol City.

‘In this business you can’t confirm something with 100 per cent guarantee, but I’d label it 99 per cent.

‘If I judge it in an objective way, it makes no sense for any of my players to leave at this moment and it makes no sense for the club to sell our players in January.’

Norwich have, however, officially signed Greece defender Dimitris Giannoulis from PAOK

Norwich – who are top of the table after winning seven of their last nine league games – have however completed the signing of Greece defender Dimitris Giannoulis from PAOK.

The 25-year-old’s contract will be made permanent, for an undisclosed fee, should Norwich gain promotion to the Premier League at the close of the current campaign.

Giannoulis has made a total of 78 appearances for PAOK and was a part of the squad that secured the Greek Super League and Greek Cup double during the 2018-19 season.

The 11-cap Greek international told the Norwich website: ‘I’m really happy to have signed. It was a dream to play for an English team and now that has come true.

‘It’s been a busy few days, but I’m here and I can’t wait to get on the pitch with my new team-mates.

‘I will always give my best. I consider myself a fast player, both in attack and defence. I like Norwich’s style of football and I hope I adapt to the way that the team plays and that I can help the team get promoted.’

Norwich are currently sitting top of the table, four points ahead of second place Swansea.
