Kieran Tierney sparkled for Arsenal in just his second appearance for the club since returning from injury during a 4-0 win over Standard Liege, and he has earned the praise of Celtic icon Chris Sutton on Twitter.
Tierney, 22, has been suffering with injury since his £25million move from Celtic in the summer. But he started the Carabao Cup win against Nottingham Forest last week, and was handed a start against Standard Liege on Thursday night.
The flying left-back instantly repaid Unai Emery for his faith, by getting forward, beating right-back Mergim Vojvoda and whipping an excellent cross into the box for Gabriel Martinelli to head home – his third goal in Arsenal colours.
Teenage whizzkid Martinelli made it two not long later, after some excellent footwork saw him lash an inch-perfect effort into the net from 10 yards out. Tierney should have had a second assist, but for Joe Willock to blaze his effort over the bar.
Chris Sutton was delighted for Tierney, praising him after coming back from injury before shining in the red of Arsenal.

Joe Willock got Arsenal’s third with a neat finish before Martinelli turned provider to hand Dani Ceballos a tap-in. But it was Tierney that proved crucial to the win, with two of Arsenal’s goals coming from the left flank.
Celtic fans responded to Sutton’s post on Twitter, with the majority of Hoops fans applauding their former star for already looking at home at The Emirates. Some Hoops fans, meanwhile, are missing their academy product.

All the banter aside. The bhoy has done well for himself. I really hope he gets the praise that he should playing with @Arsenal. He is the best left sided player in the UK. Arsenal got him at a bargain price
