Atletico Madrid are reportedly weighing up a summer move for Arsenal’s Granit Xhaka as they seek to replace midfielder Rodri in their ranks.
Rodri has been heavily touted to leave the Madrid giants this summer with Manchester City said to be willing to match the midfielder’s price tag.
Amidst this, Mundo Deportivo claims that Xhaka has been earmarked as the prime transfer target for Atleti and they are prepared to make a formal approach for the Swiss.
Xhaka, 26, has made over 130 appearances during his three seasons with the Gunners but there have been occasions where he has been guilty of making costly mistakes.
Still, he continues to remain integral to manager Unai Emery‘s plans and it would come as a surprise, if the north London side decide to sanction his sale this summer.
Aside from Xhaka, Lucas Torreira has also been linked with a potential return to the Serie A with AC Milan but the Gunners are likewise expected to reject any advances for the Uruguayan.
