Arsenal have confirmed Henrikh Mkhitaryan has joined Roma on a 12-month loan deal
The 30-year-old completed a successful medical at Roma’s training ground on Monday
Mkhitaryan has fallen down Arsenal’s pecking order since the arrival of Nicolas Pepe
He made a flying start to life in north London with three assists on his debut in a 5-1 win over Everton but his form has often been erratic.
Mkhitaryan made 45 appearances in all competitions last season but scored just six goals and found himself on the bench for Arsenal’s last two Premier League games.
The 30-year-old joins a Roma side who finished sixth in Serie A last season and have started this term with a win and two draws.
Mkhitaryan is the latest big name arrival at the Stadio Olimpico this summer as manager Paulo Fonseca attempts to turn Roma into title challengers.
Last week Manchester United defender Chris Smalling also joined the club on a season-long loan deal, just weeks after Chelsea’s Davide Zappacosta was also signed on a 12-month loan.
Roma have also spent big money on Napoli defender Amadou Diawara, midfielder Bryan Cristante, left-back Leonardo Spinazzola and goalkeeper Pau Lopez, who cost a combined £86 million.
