Arsenal will reportedly make another £40million attempt to sign RB Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano.
The Gunners failed with an equivalent bid in the summer but will try their luck again as they seek a cut-price deal for the defender as he approaches the final 18 months on his deal.
Arsenal are planning to make another £40m offer for RB Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano
The report claims that Arsenal are weighing-up whether to launch a move in January or wait until next summer.
Unai Emery is desperate to bolster his side’s defensive options and Upamecano has been identified as their No 1 target.
Emery signed David Luiz, 32, from Chelsea in the summer but Upamecano is seen as a player who could be the bedrock of Arsenal’s defence for years to come.
AC Milan are also interested in the 20-year-old, whose deal expires at the end of next season
William Saliba, 18, was also recruited in the summer but was sent back on St Etienne to spend the season on loan.
Upamecano, who turns 21 next week, is now in his third season at RB Leipzig following his move from Salzburg in 2017.
He has made five appearances in all competitions this campaign and is in line to feature in Leipzig’s Champions League group game against Zenit St Petersburg on Wednesday night.
