Arsenal target Mario Lemina makes Man Utd transfer decision

The Southampton midfielder is wanted by the Premier League duo after declaring his intention to quit St Mary’s.

Unai Emery and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer have both enquired about Lemina’s availability.

But the 25-year-old wants to be allowed to move to Old Trafford instead of the Emirates Stadium.

Manchester United fancy Lemina as a replacement for Paul Pogba.

The Red Devils are not expected to launch a bid for the Gabon international until Pogba’s future is resolved.

Southampton, who signed Lemina from Juventus for £15m in 2017, have set an £18m asking price.

Saints boss Ralph Hassenhuttl has run out of patience with Lemina, who has scored twice in 46 Premier League appearances.

Hassenhuttl wants his future resolved by next week when the club returns from pre-season tour of Austria, having left the wantaway at home.

Lemina sparked the transfer scrap last week when he admitted he wants out of Southampton.

“We have very good discussions with the club,” he said. “We are in agreement.

“If I don’t feel good in this project, I can leave.

“Otherwise, the the club is counting on me, there is no problem.

“They are giving me the opportunity to be able to go elsewhere.

“We are working on it with my agents, we are not putting ourselves under any pressure.

“We are waiting truly for the best project, the best offer.

“We look at it day by day. For the moment, I am at Southampton and I am working the best I can to be the best possible form.”

Southampton have already rejected an offer from Serie A outfit Atalanta to take Lemina on loan.
