Arsenal have stepped up their interest in signing Kieran Tierney from Celtic this summer, according to reports in the British media.
The Daily Mail is reporting that the Gunners are keen on a move to bring the 22-year-old Scottish defender to The Emirates as Unai Emery looks to bolster his rearguard.
However, the same story says that Celtic would only consider a “multi-million” pound offer for the defender this summer.
The same story says that Emery is “convinced” that Tierney can make the step up from the SPL to the English Premier League and that he is now the north London club’s top left-back target this summer.
Tierney is under contract at Celtic until 2023 and the story claims that Arsenal would have to table a significantly large offer to interest Celtic in cashing-in on the Scot.
However, it also claims that Arsenal are prepared to make that investment and are set to make a solid bid to try and sign Tierney in the coming days.
Arsenal finished in fifth place in the Premier League table and without a trophy last season after they lost 4-1 to Chelsea FC in the Europa League final.
The Gunners have not lifted the Premier League trophy since their famous unbeaten triumph in 2003-04.
