Alex Iwobi believes that Manchester City are the favourites to retain the Premier League title for the third straight season next term.

The Citizens have won the Premier League trophy for the last two seasons running and they only just pipped Liverpool FC to the title last term by finishing a point above Jurgen Klopp’s men.

Liverpool FC will be aiming to go one step further next season as they bid to try and lift the Premier League trophy for the first time in their history.

Manchester City have set the bar highly with their impressive performances in recent seasons, and Iwobi feels that Pep Guardiola’s men will be the favourites to win the competition again next term.

Speaking in an interview quoted by Metro, Iwobi said: “Everyone thought that last season, but Liverpool give them a tough challenge as well. So, you never know what could happen.

“I’m sure every club’s going to invest and try and get their team right. Pre-season’s coming up really soon, so everyone’s trying to get ready for the season to start.

“It’s hard to say right now whether Man City are going to dominate, but they could be favourites, considering they won it again.”

Iwobi will be more focused on helping Arsenal to bounce back from what ended up being a disappointing campaign last term.

The Gunners finished in fifth place in the Premier League table and ended up losing the Europa League final to Chelsea FC back in May.

Asked about Arsenal’s targets for next season, he continued: “Obviously we want to get back in to Champions League football.

“We haven’t spoken about where our targets are for next season, but I’m sure he’d [Emery] want to improve.

“The whole team would want to improve on the previous season we had and try to get to that Champions League. ‘And, if not, win as many competitions, including the Europa League as well.”

Arsenal have not win the title since their famous unbeaten triumph in the 2003-04 campaign.
