Arsenal stance on Aubameyang and Torreira revealed amid Zaha, Tierney and Saliba moves

But there is an acceptance at the Emirates Stadium that every player has a price as the club’s budget continues to spark debate.

Unai Emery only has £45m available, prior to any sales, for new signings ahead of the 2019/20 campaign.

His funds have been limited following Arsenal’s failure to secure a return to the Champions League.

An overhaul of the defence has been prioritised, with £20m deals for Kieran Tierney and William Saliba being pursued.

Signing the Celtic left-back and Saint-Etienne centre-half, though, would take up the bulk of Emery’s budget.

As a result, any further spending would depend on player sales.

Arsenal would be open to offloading Mesut Ozil and Henrik Mkhitaryan as the two playmakers are top earners at the club but are seen as disposable.

No interest has been generated for the pair, however, meaning the Gunners may have to lose first-team players they intend to keep.

“Arsenal do not wish to lose either member of their first XI”

Wilfried Zaha has emerged as a top target for Emery with the Crystal Palace winger intent on securing a move to his boyhood club.

Palace’s £80m valuation is a huge stumbling block, though, and even if that figure was reduced, Arsenal would have to sell first.

Uruguay midfielder Torreira, who only arrived last year for £26m from Sampdoria, has been linked with a move to AC Milan.

Meanwhile, the future of last season’s Premier League Golden Boot winner Aubameyang has also been speculated about amid interest from China and rumours of a switch to rivals Manchester United.

Arsenal cannot fund a move for Zaha

However, it is acknowledged at the Emirates that every player has a price.

Arsenal are aware that, as they pursue Zaha as well as Tierney and Saliba, something has to give.

Whether that means £56m club-record signing Aubameyang being moved on or Torreira being allowed to return to Italy remains to be seen.

But in order for Arsenal to add more players beyond primary targets Tierney and Saliba, be it Zaha or other options, the club must sell.

Arsenal could even offer Palace a player in part-exchange for Zaha, although he would still prove costly.
