Arsenal appear to be struggling to complete a move for Kieran Tierney.
The Daily Record have claimed the proposed move is now off with Celtic rebuffing a third offer from the Gunners.
Although intrigued about a switch to the Premier League side, the 22-year-old is not prepared to force through a move from his boyhood club.
Arsenal’s latest offer was thought to be worth £25 million, but the Hoops were not happy with the structure of the bid.
With Celtic digging their heels in, it should be within Arsenal’s interests to look at other alternatives.
Perhaps the Gunners should test the waters over Juventus full-back Alex Sandro with time fast running out.
Sandro was a mainstay for in the Juve starting XI last term and has been for most of his Bianconeri career so far.
Interestingly though, the club have been linked with a move for Tottenham Hotspur’s Danny Rose in recent days (Mirror), suggesting Sandro’s opportunities could become limited going forwards.
Should Juve snap up Rose, then Sandro should definitely appeal to Arsenal.
The 28-year-old is an energetic and attack-minded full-back who can play as part of a standard back four or a back five. He would surely fit Arsenal’s free-flowing style and would offer a great outlet.
The 11-cap Brazil international remains one of the better players in his position in Europe, and would be a coup for Arsenal.
The Tierney pursuit is looking like it will end in failure. The stubborn Gunners may not give up just yet, and the Scot would be the best option, but Sandro is surely worth some consideration.
