Arsenal are ready to make an improved bid for Celtic defender Kieran Tierney, according to a report in England.
The Telegraph is reporting that the Gunners are prepared to return with an increased offer of £18m after Celtic rejected Arsenal’s opening bid of £15m for the Scotland international.
The same article states that Arsenal are hoping that the additional £3m will tempt Celtic into parting company with the highly-rated 22-year-old left-back.
According to the same story, Celtic could prove to be stubborn negotiators but Arsenal are still confident a deal can be reached with the Scottish Premier League champions.
The Daily Telegraph goes on to say that Unai Emery is eager to add Tierney to his defensive options ahead of the new Premier League season.
The report adds that the Arsenal manager is hoping Tierney can have a similar impact as Liverpool FC’s popular Andy Robertson.
Tierney has scored one goal in 38 games in all competitions in the 2018-19 season.
Arsenal finished in fifth place in the Premier League table last term to miss out on a Champions League spot for the third successive season.
The Gunners suffered a humiliating 4-1 loss to bitter rivals Chelsea FC in the Europa League final in Baku to end their slim hopes of securing a top-four finish.
