Arsenal reportedly make £31.4m offer, but Spurs have got to blow Gunners out of the water

Tottenham Hotspur’s summer revolution is in full swing after the club made two signings this week, the first signings they have made since January 2018 in the form of Jack Clarke and Tanguy Ndombele.

Clarke has returned to Leeds on loan while Ndombele is the club’s new record transfer. Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo have also claimed that the north Londoners are close to signing Dani Olmo from Dinamo Zagreb.

But Spurs still need additions, perhaps most importantly to find a new back-up to Harry Kane. They need to decide whether to bring in a striker that could rival Kane for the striker slot, or one that is willing to play second fiddle.

If they go down the route of spending a decent amount of money on a striker that will push Kane all the way, then they need to consider rivalling north London enemies Arsenal for Real Madrid striker Lucas Vazquez.

Spanish newspaper AS have claimed that Arsenal have tabled an offer worth £31.4million to sign 28-year-old Vazquez, with Alexandre Lacazette being linked with a move to Atletico Madrid.

The Spain international is playing back-up at Real and although there are no signs that he is unhappy in the role, Zinedine Zidane may look to sell him after bringing in Eden Hazard and Luka Jovic.

Jovic’s presence will push Vazquez even further down the pecking order and any bids are likely to be considered. If Tottenham can match Arsenal’s bid, then they will surely be in pole position because of Champions League football.

Vazquez would be an excellent addition for either side, with the Spaniard seemingly happy to play second choice. His ability from out wide would also give him more game time, alongside Kane instead of replacing him.

Tottenham can fill a whole and deliver a blow to their biggest rivals by landing the Spanish attacker.
