Arsenal are reportedly looking to offer midfield star Matteo Guendouzi a new five-year contract.
And the 20-year-old, who joined from French club Lorient in July last year, would see his wages almost double to £70,000-a-week.
Guendouzi was one of new boss Unai Emery’s first signings after he came in to replace Arsene Wenger last summer.
And the youngster has been impressive since making the £7.2m switch to the Emirates.
His energetic style has made Guendouzi – graduate of the Paris Saint-Germain academy – a favourite with the fans and an asset to Emery.
The France Under-21 international has gone on to play 48 games for the Gunners in all competitions, scoring once.
And, according to the Daily Mail , the club are ready to almost double his £40k-a-week salary.
His current deal still has two and a half years to run but Arsenal would want to tie him down for the next five years.
Guendouzi’s impressive performances over the last few months are believed to have caught the eye of France manager Didier Deschamps, who is also said to be a fan.
He has started both of Arsenal’s Premier League matches so far this season, helping them to maximum points, and keeping Lucas Torreira out of the side.
One player who looks likely to depart the Emirates though is defender Shkodran Mustafi.
The 27-year-old has fallen down the pecking order under Emery and Roma have expressed an interest in taking the German on loan.
Mustafi has often been castigated by the club’s fans for Arsenal’s defensive woes, and a switch to Roma could be good for all parties.
The Serie A club turned their attentions to Musatfi after failing with a bid for Liverpool’s Dejan Lovren, and the move could have an option to make the transfer permanent next summer.
Arsenal travel to Liverpool on Saturday as they look to continue their 100 per cent start to their Premier League campaign.
The Gunners were thrashed 5-1 at Anfield last season despite taking the lead.
