Arsenal news: Joe Willock hails Arsenal team-mate Dani Ceballos after impressive start

Arsenal prospect Joe Willock has hailed fellow midfielder Dani Ceballos as ‘a top player’ after the Spaniard’s impressive start to his spell at the club.

Ceballos joined Arsenal from Real Madrid on a season-long loan last month and was named man of the match on his home debut as he set up two goals in a 2-1 victory against Burnley last weekend.

Willock, who has started Arsenal’s first two Premier League games of the season, has been hugely impressed by Ceballos so far, not just on the pitch but also in training.

As reported by goal, Willock said: ‘Dani’s a top player. We see it every day in training, he’s just brilliant. He’s very technical.

‘He showed on Saturday how good he is going to be and what he will bring to the team. It was a good performance from him. He was top class.

‘And every day he’s getting fitter, every day he’s getting better.’

Ceballos made 23 La Liga appearances for Real last season and there have been suggestions that he will return to The Bernabeu next summer.

For now, Arsenal are determined to make the most of the asset that they have at their disposal, with Ceballos capable of making an impact whether deployed in the number ten position or slightly deeper in midfield.

Part of the Spain squad that won the European Under-21 Championship this summer, Ceballos is extremely skilful and will look to, temporarily at least, fill the void left by Aaron Ramsey following the Welshman’s departure to Juventus.

When Mesut Ozil and Lucas Torreira are fully sharp, Arsenal boss Unai Emery will have a variety of midfield options available, with Granit Xhaka and Matteo Guendouzi also part of his plans.

Ceballos will be aiming to impress again on Saturday as Arsenal travel to Anfield to take on Liverpool.

Liverpool and Arsenal are the only two teams to have won both of their Premier League games so far this season.
