The Gunners are close to announcing a deal for the Saint-Etienne defender, who will rejoin the French club on a season-long loan.
Arsenal have seen off competition from Tottenham for 18-year-old Saliba.
And a £27m switch is now imminent with a medical only left to be done before his move is sealed.
Saliba is far from the only player Arsenal are working on adding to their armoury, though.

While the squad is away in the US on their pre-season tour, Arsenal’s transfer chiefs are working hard on a number of deals.
Unai Emery has other priorities he wants addressed, namely bringing in a midfielder to replace Aaron Ramsey and a left-back.
The manager is close to getting his wish as Real Madrid’s Ceballos and Celtic’s Tierney could join soon.
According to Sky Sports, the Gunners are continuing to work on deals for the pair.

“Ceballos poses less problems as his arrival would be on a loan deal”
And Arsenal are ‘increasingly confident’ they can get both moves over the line.
Tierney has been pursued all summer and the Celtic star, 23, is ready to make the switch from Scottish to English football.
However, Arsenal have been bartering over a £25m deal, having had two bids rejected, but they are still optimistic of completing the signing.
Ceballos poses less problems as his arrival would be on a loan deal.
Zinedine Zidane’s approval is all what is needed for Arsenal to take the 22-year-old Spaniard.
Ceballos is another north London rivals Spurs were after on a permanent basis, but the player has chosen Arsenal where he will get much-needed first-team game time.
Arsenal look set to be busy with incomings over the next few days while Emery prepares his side for a pre-season showdown against Fiorentina tomorrow (11pm UK time).
The Gunners then face Ceballos’ Real side on Wednesday (12am UK time) before returning to London for the Emirates Cup.
In terms of other transfer targets, Arsenal are not expected to stop after Saliba, Ceballos and Tierney join.
A winger is also of upmost importance to Emery with £36m Gremio ace Everton Soares currently seen as an alternative option to £80m-rated top target Wilfried Zaha, who is still proving too expensive at Crystal Palace.
