Arsenal have reportedly identified Barcelona’s Samuel Umtiti as their prime transfer target for this summer’s transfer window.
The north London side recently failed to qualify for next season’s Champions League after only finishing fifth in the league while suffering a heavy 4-1 loss to Chelsea in the Europa League final.
As such, manager Unai Emery is likely to place a keen emphasis on strengthening the backline which has been the main weaklink and The Star claims that Umtiti is the leading target.
Still, they may need to pay a significant sum to convince the Blaugrana into a sale and the same goes for the player, who appears intent on fighting for his starting position at the Catalan giants.
Umtiti, who has four years remaining on his Blaugrana deal, played second fiddle to Gerard Pique and Clement Lenglet for the central defensive role last term after struggling for fitness in the early stages of the campaign.
