The Gunners had a £40m bid for fleet-footed winger turned down by Crystal Palace, who were reportedly incensed by the offer.
And Zaha potentially added to his value on Monday by scoring the only goal as the Ivory Coast beat Mali to reach the tournament’s quarter-finals.
A long free-kick deceived the Mali defence, and the Crystal Palace star finished calmly despite pressure from goalkeeper Djigui Diarra.
Apart from netting the crucial winning goal for The Elephants, the winger had a relatively quiet game.
Arsenal fans plead Wilfried Zaha to join after Ivory Coast heroics
Arsenal fans are growing desperate due to their club’s lack of signings ahead of the new season.
And some supporters took to social media to beg Zaha to put in a transfer request at Palace and join the north London club.
“@Arsenal is waiting for your signature champ,” one fan tweeted.
Another wrote: “After you win the AFCON please come and play for the mighty Arsenal.”
“Zaha you are what is missing at the Emirates, you know it makes sense to leave Palace,” wrote a third.
One man who believes Zaha, 26, is ready for a move to one of the Premier League’s top teams is former Palace goalkeeper Nigel Martin.
A £12m switch to Manchester United six years ago proved a failure and he soon ended up back at Selhurst Park.
But Martyn is certain Zaha would have no such problems this time around should the Eagles decide to cash in on him again.
“Palace tend to have a bit of a battle every year to make sure they stay in the division,” the ex-Palace stopper said.
“But they have the experience now of that division – so you’ve got to hold on to your better players.
“But the problem is when they have good seasons, other clubs come sniffing around.
“Zaha, if he goes, it’ll be to a really big club. He tried that when he was younger, but he’s more mature now – so possibly he is ready for that sort of move now.”
